Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. Amen.
The former Arkansas governor and ordained Baptist minister speaks the language
of Christian Evangelicals on social issues, but his concern for the poor means
he's willing to spend more than fiscal conservatives would like.
Washington - The first time Mike Huckabee walked into the Church at Rock Creek, then meeting in a storefront, he knew he'd found a church home.
There was no lack of Southern Baptist churches for Arkansas's new governor to attend in Little Rock. But Mr. Huckabee, an ordained minister-turned-politician, liked the people he met at the fledgling church – many coming off addictions or otherwise rebuilding their lives, none wearing a suit and tie.
"This is a church that was created for the people that no one else wants," says Huckabee, in a Monitor interview. Its motto is: Taking Jesus as he is to people as they are.
This Stage covers a period of approximately thirty-five years.
It opens with an announcement in the temple of God {lk. 1:11-20} and closes with the ascension of the Son of God {lk. 24:51}.
As the Old Testament began with man made in the image of God {Gen. 1:26}. This stage begins with God in the image of man {jn. 1:14}. The man made in the image of God would be defeated by satan in a beautiful garden {Gen. 2:8}, but the God made in the image of man would soundly defeat satan in the barren desert {mt. 4:1}
Prior to this stage sheep has died for shepherds {Ex. 12: 1-13 but now the shepherd will die for the sheep {jn. 10:11}.
At his birth he was offered gold , frankincense, and myrrh by the wise men who worship him { Mt. 2:11}, while at his death he was offered thorns, vinegar, and spittle by wicked men who ridiculed him { Mt. 27:29, 34; 26:67}.
The record describes him saving sinners under a tree {Jn. 1:48}, up a tree {Lk. 19:4, 5}, and on a tree {Lk. 23:43}.
In its pages a foaming sea is calmed {Lk. 8:24}, and a fruitless tree is cursed {Mt. 21:19}.
Three of the eight biblical resurrections occur during this period . These are: Jairus daughter {Mk. 5:41}, the widow’s son {Lk. 7:14}, and Lazarus {Jn 11:43, 44}. As the story unfold , a dreaming carpenter is reassured { Mt. 1:20, 21}, and a denying disciple is restored {Jn. 21:15-17}.
We overhear conversation coming from the heavens above }Mt . 17:1-5} and from the grave beneath {Lk. 16:19-31}. Harlots are forgiven {Jn. 4:39; 8:11}, and hypocrites are condemned {Mt. 23}.
Here the concepts of the church {Mt. 16:18}, communion {Mt. 26:26-30}, and the Great Commission {Mt. 28:19, 20}, are first presented.
Jesus told us that a wicked and
adulterous generation seeks
after a sign. Yet He also stated
in Mark 13:29, “…when ye
shall see these things come to
pass, know that it is nigh, even
at the doors.”
What’s the balance here? Simply stated,
our relationship and loyalty to God
should not be based on the latest prophetic
sign. At the same time, however, when
we see the prophesied signs of the Lord’s
Second Coming reported in our newspapers,
it should instill in us an added sense
of urgency to fulfill the great commission.
The Apostle Paul said, “…knowing
the time, that now it is high time to
awake out of sleep; for now is our salvation
nearer than when we believed.”
So, lest we fall asleep, let’s take a look at
five prophetic signs that literally scream to
us, “His coming is near, even at the door!”
1. Prior to His coming, the nation of
Israel will be re-gathered to her
homeland from the nations of the
earth into which she has been scattered.
(Ezekiel 37:21-28)
On May 14, 1948, David Ben Gurion
stepped to the podium at the Tel Aviv
Museum to accept the UN’s decision
forming a Jewish state and to announce
that the name of the newborn nation
would be Israel.
Even the most elementary Bible stu-
Israeli Prime Minister David Ben Gurion, signs a document in Tel Aviv, Palestine, proclaiming the new Jewish State of Israel at midnight on May 14, 1948. The Jews declared
independence in the new state of Israel as the 25-year British mandate over Palestine ends.
The prophecy of Ezekiel
37 was being fulfilled. There had been no
Jewish nation on the earth since the
Romans had forced the dispersal of the
Jewish people in 70 AD. Now, almost
2,000 years later, the “chosen nation” was
reborn. Could there be any doubt that the
era in which the kingdom of God would
ultimately be established had begun?
2. His coming will occur during a
time when a mark or a number can be
used to control buying and selling.
(Revelation 13:16-18)
The dreaded prophecy of the mark of
the beast has lurked menacingly in the
last few pages of the Bible since John’s
revelation in 95-96 AD. How could every
man, woman, boy and girl be given a
number or mark that would be used for
participation in the world’s economic system?
The implementation of the Social
Security number was the first harbinger
that the prophesied numbering system
was beginning to rear its ugly head. Still,
it seemed farfetched to think that every
person on earth could be tracked and controlled
in the fashion seemingly described
in the Bible.
In the 1950’s, we began to hear about
the marvels and the potential of the computer.
As the computer revolution picked
up speed, computers that previously filled
whole rooms, soon sat on our laps.
Less than ten years ago, believe it or
not, the Internet entered our lives. The
latest news has just announced that onehalf
billion people are now connected to
this amazing worldwide technology. The
computer revolution has been absolutely
astounding!
Then came the proliferation of credit
cards. It suddenly became clear just how
easy it would be to set up the prophesied
“cashless society.”
As this article goes to press, the Federal
Drug Administration is poised to approve
the injection of computer chips under the
skin for ID and medical purposes.
Can the mark of the beast prophesied
for the endtime be far behind?
3. He will return during a time of
world government. (Revelation 13:3,
7-8)
In case you haven’t noticed, we are
being inundated with “world” organizations.
We have the World Trade
Organization, the World Health
Organization, the World Bank, the
World Food Program, the World Tourism
Organization, the World Meteorological
Organization, and the World Intellectual
Property Organization—just to name a
few.
Oh yes. There’s one more that cannot
be left out…the World Court, presently
being made famous by the trial of
Slobadan Milosevic. The question must
be asked—Is it possible to have a world
court if you don’t have a world government?
Isn’t it the function of any court
system to uphold the laws of the government
it represents? The time has come to
dispense with all the double talk. We
have a world court because we have a
world government. And it is the world
government prophesied in the Bible for
the endtime!
4. There will be a revival of the Holy
Roman Empire at the time of His coming.
(Daniel 2:41-44 & Revelation
17:1-3)
On March 1, 2002, twelve nations that
were formerly part of the Holy Roman
Empire forsook their national currencies,
adopting one currency—the euro. This is
the first time Europe has had a single
form of money since the reign of the
Roman Empire 2,000 years ago.
On the same day, a constitutional convention
was opened for the purpose of creating
a federal constitution for the anticipated
United States of Europe. This constitution
is to be completed and adopted
by 2004.
Make no mistake about it. We are
presently witnessing the prophesied
revival of the Holy Roman Empire.
5. The West Bank in Israel will be a
very dangerous place to live. (Matthew
24:16-21)
The West Bank area is the biblical area
of Judea and is referred to as Judea by
Israelis today. Jesus prophesied in
Matthew 24:16-21 that those living in
Judea would have to flee for their lives
because the persecution would become so
severe.
During the week prior to writing this
article, over 300 have died in this area
because of the Arab-Israeli conflict. And
things promise to get much, much worse.
The present dispute over Judea is exactly
what Jesus foresaw when He gave the
prophecy 2,000 years ago.
These five prophetic fulfillments merely
scratch the surface of those prophecies
in the process of fulfillment at this present
time. The abundance of prophetic
fulfillment in our time leaves absolutely
no doubt that the return of our Messiah,
Jesus, is at hand. ❏
ARE YOU READY IF HE COMES TODAY ?
Many have stated that it is impossible to know whether or not we are living in the last days
before the second coming of Jesus Christ. However, below you will find dramatic proof that
these are the endtimes. The proofs below defy coincidence.
In Revelation 9:15-16, the
Bible prophesies that an army of 200 million soldiers will launch a war which would kill “the third part of men.” Never in
the history of the world until our present generation has there been a power on earth that could field 200 million soldiers.
However, the late ruler of China, Mao Tse Tung boasted in his diary that he could field an army of 200 million. The CIA
World Factbook reports that in the year 2001, it is estimated that China has 200,886,946 men of military age, and this number
is growing by 10 million per year.
In Revelation 13, the Bible prophesies that a
world dictator will soon rule over a world government. He will cause all people in the earth to receive a number without
which they will be unable to buy or sell. We are seeing this prophecy fulfilled before our eyes in a most astonishing way.
Nearly every human being in the world now has been assigned a number. In America it is our Social Security number. In
the past few years, we have seen this number extended to newborns. A child without a Social Security number cannot be
declared as a dependent on an income tax return. We have seen the emergence of electronic money, shopping with credit
cards, and many people urging the abolishment of cash. All of these things could not possibly have been fulfilled until this
present time. Only after the invention of the computer could such a worldwide numbering system be administered.
Revelation 13:7 and
Daniel 7:23 prophesy the establishment of a world government. The term “New World Order” has become a prevalent
phrase in the world’s political culture. Mikhail Gorbachev made the term famous, and Pope John Paul II has referred to
it repeatedly. In the September 12, 1990 issue of the Chicago Tribune, our former president George Bush said, “Iraq is
the first test for the New World Order.” He emphatically stated that the Iraq War is Saddam Hussein against the world.
The United Nations’ troops are continually referred to as the multi-national forces. The decision has been made to establish
an interdependent community of nations that will rule the world under United Nations authority. The Bible says
that this will lead us into a great world government. The formation of this government is at hand.
Is it coincidental that all of these major prophecies pertaining to the last times are being fulfilled simultaneously
